2024 Tax Increase Information

The California Pines Service district and Fire department are facing financial challenges due to inflation and business costs over the past 15 years. The district has attempted to function on the same revenue for 15 years, but the current funding only covers a portion of annual operating costs. The CSD board is working to gather information and obtain proper direction to navigate these challenges. They are also retaining legal counsel to ensure necessary and legal steps are taken. Public meetings will be held to provide updates and information, and the community is encouraged to provide input and guidance.

Please come to the district meetings to show your support or to ask question, each meeting has a place for public comment where the community members will each get a chance to speak. Your participation in 2024 is crutial to the continued success of the Community Service District and Fire Department in California Pines.

The California Pines Service District and Fire Department are in need of community support. In order to counterbalance the effects of inflation and rising operating costs during the past 15 years, the district entities must increase their revenue. The district last investigated and proposed assessments for its residents who live and own land within it in 2009. From 2009 to 2023, the overall rate of inflation is 42%, and the minimum wage has increased from $8.00/hr to $15.50/hr. However, the district's assessment has not been re-evaluated, and the district has been operating on the same revenue for the fifteen years since 2009. The CSD and CPFD strive to continue providing high-quality services for the residents of the district.
